Becky studied Fashion & Textiles at Bretton Hall College and gained a BEd degree from Leeds University in 1982. She taught Design & Technology (Textiles) for over 20 years, in secondary schools before leaving the chalk face to become a free-lance sewing tutor, delivering courses and workshops to sewing enthusiasts in community venues in Holmfirth and Marsden.
Becky has a wealth of experience in sewing, dressmaking and pattern drafting and can competently teach learners of all ages and abilities.
Courses run for 6 weeks and participants may sign up as many times as they like, to get the best possible experience.
Class sizes are small, to maintain a high quality of teaching and learning. Students may make whatever they choose.

Wide range of classes
You can learn anything from dressmaking (including fitting, and adapting patterns) to how to make soft furnishings. Our sewing classes will teach you to make interior items such as curtains, Roman blinds, cushions and loose covers. You’ll cover techniques such as patchwork, quilting, appliqué, concealed zips, free-motion embroidery, piping, bags, bunting, and lots more.
Brand-new Janome sewing machines
There’s no need to bring your own sewing machine (although you’d be welcome to do so). There’s a fully computerised Janome sewing machine for every student. You can even use an overlocker in class.

Make at green view offers a range of sewing classes and children’s workshops in Holmfirth, with wonderful panoramic views over the Holme valley. It’s a great place to take some time out and get creative. The classes are taught by Geraldine, the creator of ‘made at green view’. She is completely passionate about sewing and crafts and creating projects that are more design based, so that you leave with real sewing skills. Geraldine trained in clothing design and manufacturing and has been a textile teacher for 15 years.

Dionne Swift is a contemprary textile artist offering a range of inspirational workshops.
Dionne received her degree from Goldsmiths College and a masters in Textiles from Birmingham. Now, as an established Creative Practitioner, Dionne exhibits extensively and offers a range of inspirational workshops, textile kits and supplies. She continues to lecture at the University of Huddersfield and is co-founder of Radiant Works: studio group.
I work with a variety of processes: devoré, printing, stitch, embellishment, drawing, bonding, lamination, dying, discharge, fabric painting… the list goes on & on…
Jane is a qualified couture dressmaker with 11 years FE and City & Guilds teaching experience.
She runs a monthly dressmaking group in Yorkshire and also offers one to one tuition in dressmaking, machine skills and specialises in beginners and new owner overlocking.
Michelle trained for seven years as a bespoke tailoress and has experience of running her own dressmaking business specialising in Bridal Gowns. She is also a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen. She draws on all her experience in the industry to present courses exclusive to her business. Her courses are fully researched & include all materials to complete each course.
Sheila is a textile artist and tutor with many years of teaching experience. A former tutor for City & Guilds Feltmaking and author of “Felt to Stitch” published by Batsford in 2006.Her latest book ” Embellish, Stitch, Felt” is due for release in August 2008.
