My background is in fashion and, after working in the industry for some time, I then made the decision to train to be a Textiles teacher. I set up Sew Creative in 2016 after being asked several times if I would teach friends and family how to sew and I have been teaching workshops ever since.
At Sew Creative we run a variety of different lessons for children, teens and adults. There are also regular school holiday clubs.
Why learn to sew with Sew Creative?
A new approach to sewing and dressmaking classes!
All of the sessions are ‘free sew’, where each individual is able to choose what they would like to make – instead of everyone making the same item. This gives you the freedom to go at your own pace and make something your would actually use – suitable for both absolute beginners and advanced seamstresses. Classes are also very small, allowing everyone to have as much, or as little, tuition as they require.
With a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and plenty of tea and biscuits, what’s not to love?!
Please feel free to use the online booking system on our website, or use the Contact tab to get in touch! Interested in gift vouchers or want to book a party? Just drop us an email and we’ll get back to you asap!

Choose a small group or private tuition
Learn to sew in a class setting or choose one-to-one private sewing tuition. You’ll learn at your own pace, build your confidence, and sew whatever you want.
Beautiful award-winning studio
The Sewing Shed is exactly that: a purpose-built studio dedicated to sewing lessons. Modern, bright and airy, it’s a great place to learn to sew.
Wide range of classes
You can learn anything from dressmaking (including fitting, and adapting patterns) to how to make soft furnishings. Our sewing classes will teach you to make interior items such as curtains, Roman blinds, cushions and loose covers. You’ll cover techniques such as patchwork, quilting, appliqué, concealed zips, free-motion embroidery, piping, bags, bunting, and lots more.
Brand-new Janome sewing machines
There’s no need to bring your own sewing machine (although you’d be welcome to do so). There’s a fully computerised Janome sewing machine for every student. You can even use an overlocker in class.
All About the Sew sewing workshops set up by Lorna Hulme are up and running in the Solihull area. Maybe you have never sewn before and the thought of sewing a button on brings you out in a cold sweat, you sewed 20 years ago at school and would like to have another go or you enjoy general crafts and would like to try something new – there will be a class to suit you, just come along and have a go. You will be hooked in no time!
Lorna wants to share her passion of sewing with others by encouraging people to come together, learn a new skill, make something they are proud of and most importantly enjoy themselves. Class sizes are small with a maximum of 5 people to allow lots of guidance and support from Lorna. Classes include the use of Janome sewing machines, basic sewing tools and fabric in a lot of the workshops. Lorna has achieved the Level 1 NCFE in Dressmaking and Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
